Swank Life's philosophy on Hip-Hop is that it is much more than just the four aspects of the culture. Hip-Hop is a way of life that is influenced by "outside" forces, such as the dancehall reggae culture which is similer in origin and style of Hip-Hop. Funk music is a big influence on Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop isn't just influenced, it also does the influencing. For example, where would modern R&B music be without rap? Where would techno, house, tribal, jungle, etc. be without Electro-Funk, the music created by Hip-Hop's founder Afrika Bambaataa? In our opinion there is two major forces destroying the Hip-Hop sub-culture, the "hardcore Hip-Hop heads" that try to dictate what is and what isn't Hip-Hop, and the "gangstaz, R&Bers and techno heads" that think they know what Hip-Hop is but really don't. Don't get us wrong, we're not anti-gangsta, R&B or techno, but certain people from those groups act like they know about Hip-Hop, but never spit into a mic, cut up a turntable, vandalized a wall, or got cardboard burns. Know what I'm sayin'?
